I. AWARD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT NO. 23-08 TO COMMERCIAL\nPAVING AND COATING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CONCRETE\nSLAB FOR PICKLEBALL COURTS AT SMITH PARK IN THE AMOUNT OF\n$90,500 PLUS A $9,050 CONTINGENCY\nSmith Park currently has two tennis courts, one of which is striped for both\ntennis and pickleball. The steady increase in popularity of this sport has created\na need to construct additional pickleball courts. On May 2, 2023, Council\napproved the construction of four new permanent pickleball courts at Smith\nPark. Parks Development Impact Fee funds in the amount of $90,500 plus a\n$9,050 contingency will be utilized to fund the construction of four new\npickleball courts. The funds were appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2022-23\nbudget and will be carried to the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council:\n1. Authorize the City Manager to execute Construction Contract No. 23-08\nwith Commercial Paving and Construction for a total bid amount of $90,500;\nand\n2. Authorize the City Manager to approve a Purchase Order with Commercial\nPaving and Coating in an amount not to exceed $99,550 which includes a\n10% construction contingency using the Parks Development Impact Fees\nAccount No. 122-850-40-97-806.
