11. AWARD CONTRACT: EMERGENCY PUMP REPAIR AT WELL NO. 13 – F2M23-58,\nC2M23-58, M2M23-117\nWell No. 13 is a non-potable water production well, located at the corner of New and\nAdams. It pumps water directly to the lake at Almansor Park Golf Course to supply water\nfor irrigation of the golf course. The well produces approximately 800 gallons per minute\nof non-potable water, thus allowing the City to reserve our potable water supply. After the\npump at Well No. 13 failed, staff contacted General Pump Company, who was available\nto pull the pump immediately. The pump is over 15 years old and after it was removed by\nGeneral Pump Company, an inspection revealed the pump had failed due to bearing wear.\nSince the pump will now need to be completely replaced, it is cost effective to redesign\nthe pump to reduce power consumption for a more economical and efficient operation.\nRecommended Action: City Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, to General Pump Company for the\nEmergency Pump Repair at Well No.13 in an amount not to exceed $ $122,829.13; and,\ndirect staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
