13. CONFIRMATION OF INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2024 GOLDEN STREETS\nMISSION TO MISSION CICLOVIA EVENT – F2M23-16, M2M23-118\nThe City has been an active participant in 626 Golden Streets event. To ensure the City’s\ninvolvement in the new cycle in 2024, the SGVCOG requested a letter of grant support by\nAugust 18, 2023. The letter indicates that if the grant application for a 626 Golden Streets\nis awarded, the City will support the event’s implementation. It is unclear, however, how\nmuch funding will be available from the grant source. In the event the City’s costs exceed\nthe grant funds available, the City is expected to be responsible for the difference of its\nshare of the event costs. Once events are awarded and scheduled, the partner cities will\nenter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the SGVCOG to memorialize the\npartnership and to establish the budget allocated to the cities. The anticipated expenses\nto participate in the next 626 Golden Streets in 2024 is approximately $40,000 with\npotentially $25,000 to $32,000 available in reimbursement, depending on the grant\nreceived by the SGVCOG. Staff will submit these estimates to the SGVCOG, as\nrequested, to assist in their development of the grant proposal.\nRecommended Action: City Council confirm the City’s intent to participate in the 626\nGolden Streets Mission to Mission Ciclovia event; authorize the City Manager, or her\ndesignee, to execute the Memorandum of Understanding between the cities and the San\nGabriel Valley Council of Governments to share resources and host the event, if grant\nfunds are received; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s\naction.
