4. ACCEPT GRANT: CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY FOR GARDENING AND\nSUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMMING AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS – F2M23-18,\nM2M23-136\nThe Library applied for and received a $30,000 grant from the California State Library to\npresent “Let’s Grow, Alhambra! Become a Master of your Garden and Steward of Earth.”\nThis gardening and sustainability-based series will include seminars from certified master\ngardeners; hands-on workshops on composting, native drought-tolerant plants, edible\nurban gardens and other specialty topics; the development of a demonstration garden;\nand the introduction of a new seed library inside the Alhambra Library.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept $30,000 from the California State\nLibrary for the Library Services and Technology Act Sustainability Programming Grant;\nappropriate revenue and expenditure funds in the amount of $30,000; authorize the City\nManager or designee to sign the grant agreement, subject to final language approval by\nthe City Manager and City Attorney, with the California State Library; and, direct staff to\nundertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
