25. RESOLUTION APPROVING A SIDE LETTER AGREEMENT AMENDING THE\nMEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE ALHAMBRA\nFIRE DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (AFDMA) – F2M23-3, R2M23-47,\nC2M17-52, M2M23-154\n13\n8-28-23\nOn July 24, 2023, the City Council approved an MOU between the City and AFDMA. The\nMOU is not set to expire until June 30, 2026. Most recently, City representatives and\nrepresentatives of the AFDMA met and conferred regarding a salary range adjustment for\nthe classification of Battalion Chief. Following discussions between the City and AFDMA,\nagreement was reached to restructure and amend the existing salary range for the\nclassification to allow for an increase of five percent (5%) to the top step (Step 6) and\nsubsequent steps below. The new adjusted salary range shall become effective the pay\nperiod beginning August 3, 2023. The Side Letter Agreement memorializes the agreement\nreached between the City and the AFDMA as it pertains to the one-time salary range\nadjustment for the classification of Battalion Chief.\nRecommended Action: City Council: 1) Adopt Resolution No. R2M23-47 entitled:\nA Resolution of the Alhambra City Council approving a Side Letter Agreement amending\nthe Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Alhambra and the Alhambra Fire\nDepartment Management Association; 2) Direct the Finance Director to make necessary\nbudget adjustments within the Fiscal Year 2023-24 and 2024-25 Adopted Budget for the\ncompensation for these employees; and, 3) Direct staff to undertake the steps necessary\nto finalize Council’s action.
