E. AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT NO. 23-10 IN THE AMOUNT OF\n$37,900 PLUS A 10% CONTINGENCY TO MEDINA BRAVO\nCONSTRUCTION, INCORPORATED FOR THE REMOVAL AND\nREPLACEMENT OF SEVERAL SECTIONS OF CONCRETE SIDEWALKS\nALONG THE 100 AND 200 BLOCKS OF GERONA AVENUE\nThe 100 and 200 blocks of Gerona Avenue are residential streets lined with\nCamphor Trees on both sides of the street, creating a large canopy over the\nmiddle of the street. It is an aesthetic and popular street because of the\ncanopy’s tunnel-like feel driving through it. The Camphor Tree is a large\nspecies of tree with an aggressive shallow root system. Several sections of\nsidewalks have been displaced or cracked and need to be repaired. The total\ncost for this project is $37,900, plus a 10% contingency.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Categorically\nexempt per Section 15303 of the State CEQA guidelines regarding New\nConstruction or conversion of small structures.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council award a contract to Medina Bravo\nConstruction, Incorporated as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder,\nauthorize the City Manager to execute Contract No. 23-10 for $37,900 and\napprove a Purchase Order with Medina Bravo Construction, Inc. in an amount\nnot to exceed $41,690 which includes a 10% contingency using the Gas Tax\naccount 122-800-41-96-609.
