B. FUNDING FOR THE SAN GABRIEL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN THE\nAMOUNT OF $23,000\nFor many years, the City has supported the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce\n(Chamber) financially and through a variety of joint efforts that promote San\nGabriel businesses. Though the City and Chamber continue to serve the\nbusiness community, the City has not provided any funds to the Chamber as it\ndid prior to 2020. Recently, the Chamber requested the City purchase a\nPresidential Circle Membership for $23,000. The timely request aligned with\ndiscussion of the City’s Fiscal Year 2023-2024 operating budget. This report\nexamines the historical relationship between the City and the Chamber that\nculminates to the most recent request, includes other Cities’ contract amounts\nwith their respective Chambers as points of reference, and presents several\noptions for the City Council to consider in this matter.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nCity Council Options:\nThe following are options for the City Council regarding this matter:\n1. The City purchase a Presidential Circle Membership for $23,000. In addition\nto the membership, both parties – the City and the Chamber – enter into an\nAgreement that includes a ‘Scope of Work’ and a list of deliverables. Such\npotential agreement could be considered at a future City Council meeting\nand then provided to the Chamber for execution.\n2. The City purchase a Presidential Circle Membership for $23,000 (without an\naccompanying agreement).\n3. The City proceed with the existing relationship with the Chamber, which\ncurrently does no include any financial support, The City and the Chamber\nwould process with respective efforts – both separate and joint – in\nsupporting San Gabriel businesses.\n4. The Council may also consider other options (not listed above) as a result\nof discussion on this matter.
