9.b. UPDATE TO THE CONCEPT FOR THE ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD\nCORRIDOR ENHANCEMENT PLAN AND THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY\nTRANSIT FEASIBILITY STUDY\nThe City of South El Monte received funding from Caltrans through a\nSustainable Communities Grant (State SB-1) to prepare planning level\ndocuments for the Rosemead Boulevard Corridor. The plan has\nconceptualized Rosemead Boulevard as a multi-modal corridor that\nengages participants in active and safe modes of transportation. The\nproject examined traffic calming strategies to increase pedestrian safety\nand improve the City’s existing bicycle network and quality of public\ntransport. Suring this study, staff was aware of Metro’s and San Gabriel\nValley Council of Government’s Transit Feasibility Study that included\nRosemead Blvd.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends City Council:\n1. Receive presentations by Metro/San Gabriel Valley Council of\nGovernment (SGVCOG) Staff and Alta consulting;\n2. Provide comments on SGVCOG's Bus Rapid Transit BRT study and\nthe Rosemead Blvd. Corridor Enhancement Study;\n3. Instruct the Alta consultant to prepare the draft study that includes the\nCity Council's comments to the design concept and present it before\nthe community at the final outreach scheduled per the grant timeline;\nand\n4. Alta Consulting to present the final draft before the City Council at the\nFebruary 24, 2023 council meeting.
