PRESENTATION REGARDING MITIGATION EFFORTS OF THE THEFT OF\nCATALYTIC CONVERTERS WITHIN THE CITY\nAt its meeting of August 8, 2023, Council directed staff to prepare an item regarding\nmitigation efforts related to the theft of catalytic converters. This evening Public Safety\nDirector Jim Wren will be providing a presentation highlighting practices adopted by\nother communities for the Council’s consideration.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\n1. City Council find that the ordinance is exempt from the requirements of the California\nEnvironmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines Sections\n15378(a) (the ordinance is not a “project” and has no potential for resulting in\nphysical change to the environment, directly or indirectly) and 15061(b)(3) (there is\nno possibility that the ordinance or its implementation would have a significant\nnegative effect on the environment) (14 Cal. Code Regs.); and\n2. Provide direction to staff.\nOctober 10, 2023
