9. NIB: PURCHASE OF MOTOROLA MOBILE RADIOS FOR THE POLICE\nDEPARTMENT – F2M23-6B, N2M23-128\nPolice operations rely heavily on mobile radios (radios installed into patrol vehicles), which\nare critical for ensuring safe and effective service to the community. The Police\nDepartment fleet currently uses Motorola XTL 5000 radios which were purchased over ten\nyears ago and have exceeded their end-of-life expectancy. Additionally, these radios are\nno longer supported by the manufacturer. Procuring new mobile radios is a vital measure\ntowards enhancing and modernizing the Police Department communication system to\nmeet the community’s safety needs.\n6\n10-23-23\nRecommended Action: City Council authorize staff to circulate a Notice Inviting Bids\nto prospective contractors for the purchase of Motorola mobile radios for the Police\nDepartment; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
