DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION CONCERNING SIDEWALK VENDOR\nLAWS AND POTENTIAL NEW REGULATIONS\nThe City Attorney’s Office and City staff are presenting this item to the City\nCouncil so that the Council can review and discuss potential\nimprovements to the regulations for sidewalk vendors in the City. South El\nMonte Municipal Code (“SEMMC”) Chapter 5.09, “Sidewalk Vending,” is\nlimited by recent state laws protecting sidewalk vendors. This staff report\ndiscusses potential amendments to Chapter 5.09 that could be brought\nback as an amended ordinance for first reading at a future city council\nmeeting.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends City Council review and\ndiscuss existing regulations for sidewalk vendors under SEMMC Chapter\n5.09, “Sidewalk Vending,” summarized in this report.
