8. APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT FOR AUTOLEND LIBRARY MACHINE AND LOCKER\nSYSTEM – F2M23-76, C2M23-85, M2M23-190\nThe Alhambra Library continues to pursue innovative opportunities to meet the needs of\nthe community while ensuring convenient, equitable access to its services and resources.\nTo further these efforts, the Library seeks to deliver 24/7 access to library resources by\ninstalling a lending kiosk and locker system at Emery Park, located at the westernmost\nboundary of Alhambra. International Library Services, Inc. has created an AutoLend\nLibrary Machine that stores up to 228 loanable books and other circulation items for\nimmediate check out and an Integrated Control Module Locker System to securely house\nbook holds or other requested items for pick up at a location and time more convenient to\npatrons. International Library Services, Inc. is the only vendor that provides an “all-in-one”\nself-contained combination unit that includes both lending library and locker system. As a\nresult, staff is requesting the Council authorize its procurement under sole source. Sole\nsource is allowable per Alhambra Municipal Code 3.36.080, section (B)(2).\nRecommended Action: City Council approve a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, by and between the City of Alhambra and\nInternational Library Services, Inc. for the purchase of an AutoLend Library Machine and\nIntegrated Control Module Locker System in the amount of $79,765.88; authorize the City\nManager or designee to execute said contract; and, direct staff to undertake the steps\nnecessary to finalize Council’s action.
