11. AWARD CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF WATER METER BOXES AND COVERS –\nF2M23-6B, C2M23-87, M2M23-193\nEvery year, the Utilities Department implements a maintenance program to replace broken\nmeter boxes and covers for Utilities underground infrastructure throughout the City.\nReplacement of water meters boxes and covers is critical to ensure the water system is\noperating in a safe and efficient manner. At this time, it is necessary for staff to purchase\nmeter boxes and covers in order to maintain an adequate supply. Hubbell/Armorcast dba\nArmorcast Products Company, Inc. is the sole vendor approved by the Utilities Department\nand our City Engineer. This award of contract is recommended pursuant to Alhambra\nMunicipal Code 3.36.080(B)(2), which allows for dispensing the purchase method of\nequipment if the supply can only be obtained from one source.\nRecommended Action: City Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, by and between the City of Alhambra and\nHubbell/Armorcast dba Armorcast Products Company, Inc., for the purchase of water\nmeter boxes and covers in an amount not to exceed $82,299.81; and, direct staff to\nundertake the steps necessary to finalize the Council’s action.
