AWARD CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF WATER METERS – F2M23-6B, C2M23-91,\nM2M23-199\n4\n12-11-23\nEvery year, the Utilities Department implements a water meter replacement program to\nreplace broken, old, and inaccurate water meters throughout the City. Water meters are\nalso required for new development and to complete meter installations for the Advanced\nMetering Infrastructure (AMI) System. Replacement of water meters is critical to ensure\nmeter accuracy for billing. At this time, staff needs to order meters to place into inventory\nto enable the meter replacement program for the AMI system. The Sensus Flexnet System\nis utilized in Alhambra to read the water meters on a bi-monthly basis. Thirkettle\nCorporation dba Aqua-Metric Sales Company is the sole distributor in the State of\nCalifornia of Sensus Meters, which is the meter supported by the Sensus Flexnet AMI\nSystem.\nRecommended Action: City Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, by and between the City of Alhambra and\nThirkettle Corporation dba Aqua-Metric Sales Company, for the purchase of water meters\nand accessories in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00; and, direct staff to undertake\nthe steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
