CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE\nPALESTINIAN PEOPLE OF GAZA\nAt the November 14, 2023, City Council meeting, Council Member Torres requested\nthat this item be agendized for discussion. Council Member Torres requested to\ndiscuss the creation of a resolution in support of the Palestinian people of Gaza, which\nalso calls for a ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine. At the November 28, 2023,\nCity Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to create a staff report and\nresolution for City Council consideration modeling the proposed resolution passed by\nthe City of Cudahy, California.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\n1. City Council find that this item is not subject to California Environmental Quality Act\n(“CEQA”) pursuant to Sections 15378(b)(5)(Organizational or administrative\nactivities of governments that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in\nthe environment); and\n2. Approve Resolution No. 2023-30, entitled:\n“A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STANTON,\nCALIFORNIA AFFIRMING THE CITY'S SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY\nWITH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE OF GAZA AND SUPPORT\nREPRESENTATIVE CORI BUSH'S CONGRESSIONAL RESOLUTION\nCALLING FOR AN IMMEDIATE DE-ESCALATION AND CEASE-FIRE IN\nISRAEL AND OCCUPIED PALESTINE”.
