AWARD CONTRACT: 2023 ALLEY REHABILITATION PROJECT (AREA A / PHASE I)\n– F2M23-67, N2M23-126, C2M24-2, M2M24-3\nThe 2023 Alley Rehabilitation Project (Area A / Phase I) consists of nine alley segments\nlocated within the City of Alhambra’s boundaries. The alley segments selected to be\nreconstructed are categorized as failed condition in the current Pavement Management\nSystem Report. The project is located between Ethel Avenue on the West, Valley\nBoulevard on the South, Marengo Avenue on the East, and Front Street on the North. City\nCouncil authorized the circulation of a Notice Inviting Bids for this project on October 23,\n2023. On November 30, 2023, the City Clerk received six bids that ranged from\n$1,043,640.00 to $1,579,270.00, not including the alternate bid alley segments. Staff\nreviewed the bids and found the bid received from Kalban, Inc. in the amount of\n$1,043,640.00 is the lowest responsible bid. Kalban, Inc. has the necessary licenses to\ncomplete the work and has conducted similar projects for the City of Alhambra.\n4\n1-8-24\nRecommended Action: City Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, to Kalban, Inc. in the amount of\n$1,043,640.00 for the 2023 Alley Rehabilitation Project (Area A / Phase I); and, direct staff\nto undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
