Board of Airport Commissioners
Agenda Item 6
RESOLUTION NO. - Los Angeles International Airport Zero-Emission Ground Support Equipment Policy: To further reduce air emissions from ground support equipment operating at Los Angeles International Airport \nPURPOSE: To further reduce air quality emissions at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) staff recommend implementing the LAX Zero-Emission Ground Support Equipment Policy (ZE GSE Policy) for LAX ground support equipment operators. The ZE GSE Policy will complement, but does not replace or supersede, the existing LAX Ground Support Equipment Emissions Policy (GSE Policy) adopted by the Board of Airport Commissioners in 2019. Implementation of the ZE GSE Policy aligns with LAWA's Sustainability Action Plan goals for improving air quality by encouraging use of cleaner technologies in airport ground operations. The focus on zero-emission ground support equipment reflects a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of airport activities and fostering a more sustainable aviation industry. \nRECOMMENDATIONS: Adoption of the Report requesting that the Board of Airport Commissioners determine that this action is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Article II, Section 2.f of the Los Angeles City CEQA Guidelines; approve the Los Angeles International Airport Zero-Emission Ground Support Equipment Policy; and authorize the Interim Chief Executive Officer, or designee, to implement said policy after approval as to form by the City Attorney.
