6.B. A RESOLUTION CONDEMNING THE\nCONFLICT IN ETHIOPIA AND STANDING IN\nSOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF\nETHIOPIA [S. SHYNE, Y. QUARKER, A.\nLOVANO, J. DEL TORO, M. WATSON]:\nThe City Council will consider adopting a\nresolution condemning the conflict taking\nplace in Ethiopia and standing in solidarity\nwith the people of Ethiopia. The current\nconflict has evolved into a complex\nhumanitarian crisis with millions of people in\nneed of assistance due to food shortages,\ndisplacement, and a lack of basic services.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution\nNo. 24-_______ "A RESOLUTION\nCONDEMNING THE CONFLICT IN\nETHIOPIA AND STANDING IN SOLIDARITY\nWITH THE PEOPLE OF ETHIOPIA"; and 2)\nDirect staff to send a letter to President Joe\nBiden and copies of the letter to Secretary of\nState Anthony Blinken, National Security\nAdvisor Jake Sullivan, USAID Administrator\nSamantha Power, Senators Alex Padilla and\nLaphonza Butler, Representative Adam Schiff,\nCalifornia Governor Gavin Newsom, California\nState Senator Ben Allen, and California\nAssembly Member Rick Chavez Zbur, and\nothers as deemed appropriate.
