6. APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR THE\nWATERSMART WATER AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY GRANT PROGRAM – F2M24-18,\nR2M24-2\nThe WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grants for fiscal year 2024-2025 is\naccepting application for projects that will result in quantifiable water savings, implement\nrenewable energy components, and support broader sustainability benefits. Staff plans to\napply for a grant of up to $500,000 to replace water meters at various locations in the City\nto AMI meters. As required by the grant guidelines, the City will contribute an additional\nmatch of at least $500,000. The match will be covered by the Water Fund (Fund 401), if\nawarded. The grant guidelines require an official resolution by the City Council which\nprovides authority to proceed with the application of projects and receipt of grant funds\npursuant to the Bureau of Reclamation’s policies and procedures. If the project is selected\nfor funding, staff will return to the City Council for approval to solicit bids or proposals,\nappropriate grant funds for the proposed projects, and issue notices of completion.\nRecommended Action: City Council adopt Resolution R2M24-2 entitled: A\nResolution of the City Council of the City of Alhambra, California approving the authority\nto file an application with the United States Bureau of Reclamation for the WaterSMART\nWater and Energy Efficiency Grant Program; and, direct staff to undertake the steps\nnecessary to finalize the Council’s action.
