9. RESOLUTION TERMINATING THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY – F2M20-\n33, R2M23-9\nPursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council can proclaim the existence,\nor threatened existence, of a local emergency when said City is affected or likely to be\naffected by a public calamity. Due to the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor of\nCalifornia declared a state of emergency on March 4, 2020 and Los Angeles County\nproclaimed the existence of a local emergency that same day due to conditions of disaster\nor of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property as a result of the introduction of\n5\n2-13-23\nCOVID-19. President Trump declared a National State of Emergency on March 13, 2020.\nThe Alhambra City Council proclaimed the existence of a local emergency within the City\non March 16, 2020. The Governor has indicated he will be terminating the State\ndeclaration of emergency at the end of this month. The President has also indicated he\nwill be terminating the National declaration in the next few months. The declaration of local\nemergency is no longer necessary, and its termination can be proclaimed by the City\nCouncil.\nRecommended Action: City Council adopt Resolution No. R2M23-9 entitled:\nResolution of the City Council of the City of Alhambra, California, terminating the existence\nof a Local Emergency
