INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 23-1073 AMENDING SECTION 2-1-2 OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION IN LIGHT OF SENATE BILL 329 The Governor signed Senate Bill 329 (“SB 329”) in June which allows cities a one- time chance to “reset” city council salaries to take into account inflation, the work done by local government officials, and the need to ensure that people are not discouraged from seeking city office due to the low pay and high demands of that office. Presenter: City Attorney Recommendation: 1. Introduce for first reading by title only and waive further reading of Ordinance No. 23-1073, amending Title 2, Chapter 1, Section 2-1-2 “Expenses and Compensation” of the Temple City Municipal Code; and 2. Schedule the second reading of Ordinance No. 23-1073 for September 5, 2023.
