12.8 Consideration and Approval to Use Asset Forfeiture Funds for the Purchase of Eighty-\nFour (84) CTS Light and Sound Diversionary Distraction Devices and Twenty-Five (25)\nWhite Smoke Tactical Canister Grenades (Outdoor) for the Police Department’s\nSpecial Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.\nRECOMMENDATION OF BUSINESS ITEM UNDER CONSIDERATION:\nIt is recommended that the City Council:\n1. Consider and approve the appropriation of Asset Forfeiture funds from Account No. 259-\n71-712-6270 to purchase eight-four (84) CTS light and sound diversionary distraction\ndevices and twenty-five (25) tactical white smoke canister grenades (outdoor) for use by\nthe Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team in tactical operations for an amount not-\nto-exceed $10,000;\n2. Consider and approve the purchase of the CTS light and sound diversionary distraction\ndevices and white smoke can canister from LC Action Police Supply, which is identified\nas a sole source vendor; and\n3. Consider and approve the presentation of this purchase and identification of the finding\nsource before the local governing body (Honorable Mayor and City Council) as following\nthe guidelines set forth in State of California Assembly Bill 481 pertaining to acquisition\nor intended use of military type equipment.\nTotal Cost: $10,000 Account No: 259-71-712-6270\nIs the cost of this item budgeted?
