E. AWARD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT NO. 24-01 TO VIDO SAMARZICH,\nINCORPORATED FOR THE SIDWALK AND PEDESTRIAN RAMP\nIMPROVEMENT PROJECT FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 IN THE AMOUNT OF\n$123,880 PLUS A 10% CONTINGENCY [RESOLUTION NO. 24-15]\nThe Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of all public\nsidewalks and installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant\npedestrian ramps within the City. ADA pedestrian ramps provide a smooth and\nsafe path of travel from the sidewalk to the street for people with disabilities.\nThere is a substantial backlog of sidewalk maintenance needs and new ramp\nrequests, and staff is seeking assistance from outside contractors. The cost to\nrepair the sidewalks on Gerona Avenue is $47,630 and the cost to construct\neight ADA curb ramps is $76,250 plus an additional 10% contingency amount\nof $12,388 for a total project budget of $136,268.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: This project is\ndetermined to be Categorically Exempt per CEQA Section 15301 – Existing\nFacilities. The project will replace existing sidewalks and install ADA pedestrian\nramps within the public right-of-way facilities. Irrespective of the exemption, no\npotential for significant impacts to the environment are anticipated from this\nproject.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council:\n1. Adopt Resolution No. 24-15 to appropriate additional $21,098 from the TDA\nArticle 3 Fund to account 122-800-44-96-604;\n2. Approve plans and specifications for the Sidewalk & Pedestrian Ramp\nImprovement Project, Fiscal Year 2023-24;\n3. Award contract to Vido Samarzich, Incorporated;\n4. Authorize the City Manager to execute Construction Contract No. 24-01;\nand
