(39) 26-1169-S1 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to updating all City department El Nino Emergency Plans and providing informational guidelines and instructional materials to hillside property owners. Recommendation for Council action, as initiated by Motion (Yaroslavsky - Harris-Dawson): INSTRUCT the Emergency Management Department, in coordination with the Department of Public Works, Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Department of Transportation and Department of Water and Power, to prepare and present updated El Niño Emergency Preparedness Plans for the City that also provide informational guidelines and instructional material to assist hillside property owners, and others, in their own preparation for potential flooding and mud/debris flows resulting from winter storms; such report to be submitted within 30 days, including what steps need to be taken before the arrival of the winter storm season, and the current state of City preparedness. Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this report.
