11. AWARD CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS\n(SCBA) – F2M24-6B, C2M24-20, M2M24-55\nThe use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is a required piece of Personal\nProtective Equipment (PPE), per the National Fire Protection Association. Wearing\nappropriate respiratory protection is essential for safety and well-being. The Alhambra Fire\nDepartment staff is currently using SCBAs that are 15 years old and have exceeded their\nexpected useful life. Staff is seeking to purchase new SCBAs through a cooperative\npurchase agreement. A cooperative purchase is allowable per Alhambra Municipal Code\n3.36.080 section B3. Sourcewell awarded contract #032620-LNC to L.N. Curtis & Sons on\nMay 5, 2020. Sourcewell bid specifications included an option for purchasing SCBAs,\nincluding related accessories and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Staff is\nrecommending purchasing the SCBAs utilizing this Sourcewell option.\nRecommended Action: City Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, to L. N. Curtis & Sons in an amount not\nto exceed $766,939.77 for the purchase of new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus\n(SCBA) and accessories; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize the\nCouncil’s action.
