8. AUTHORIZE RFP: PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR THE HVAC\nDESIGN AT ALHAMBRA FIRE STATION 71 – F2M22-31, RFP2M24-9\n4\n4-8-24\nFire Station 71 is headquarters for the Alhambra Fire Department. The existing HVAC\nsystem, which is the original 1966 design, is no longer capable of adequately and\nefficiently cooling and heating the building. In February 2023, a consultant was contracted\nto conduct a complete assessment of Fire Station 71. Based on the recommendations of\nthe assessment of the existing HVAC equipment, staff is seeking City Council approval to\nsolicit proposals for professional design services to redesign and replace the existing\nHVAC system.\nRecommended Action: City Council authorize staff to solicit proposals for\nprofessional design services for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) at\nAlhambra Fire Station 71, with proposals due no later than April 25, 2024; and, direct staff\nto undertake steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
