10. ACCEPTANCE OF FY 2023 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT AND\nAPPROPRIATION OF GRANT REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES — F2M1-106,\nC2M24-22, M2M24-62\nAs a designated Core City, the City of Los Angeles is eligible for additional funding through\nthe Urban Area Strategic Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program that is administered by\nthe Department of Homeland Security. In addition to the Core City, individual cities that\nare contiguous to the City of Los Angeles are also eligible for funding. The Police and Fire\n_Departments jointly submitted a grant request for $452,298.00 to the Approval Authority\nwho administers the UAS! Grant Program and the request was approved for $146,818.00\nallocated to the Police Department and $305,480.00 allocated to the Fire Department.\nFunding will be used to purchase software licensing for the Police Department's\nAutomated License Plate Reader (ALPR) program and for the purchase of an armored\npolice rescue vehicle for shared use by Alhambra, South Pasadena and Monterey Park.\nThe funds awarded to the Fire Department will be used for Urban Search and Rescue\nequipment and training as well as for sustainment and maintenance of the Alhambra Fire\nTraining Facility.\nRecommended Action: Accept the 2023 Urban Area Strategic Security Initiative\nGrant (UASI) in the amount of $452,298.00; direct the Finance Director to amend the City’s\n2023-2024 Adopted Budget by increasing the Police Department revenue by $146,818.00\nin account 101.20.42399 and appropriating $146,818 in account 101.20.2010.99399 and\nincreasing the Fire Department revenue by $305,480.00 in account 101.30.42399 and\nappropriating $305,480.00 in account 101.30.3610.99399; and, direct staff to undertake\nthe steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
