20. NOVEMBER 5, 2024 ALHAMBRA GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION: ADOPTION OF\nAN ORDINANCE CALLING THE ELECTION AND OF A RESOLUTION REGARDING\nCONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD THAT\nSAME DATE IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY — F2M24-38, O2M24-4829, R2M24-14\nOn April 8, 2024, the City Council introduced for first reading Ordinance No. O2M22-4802\nproviding for a General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024 for the purpose\nof submitting to the qualified voters the following named officers: Councilperson of the\nThird District, full term; and, Councilperson of the Fourth District, full term. Pursuant to the\nAlhambra Charter as recently amended by Measure V in 2020, these offices shall be\nnominated from and elected by districts. The Alhambra City Charter provides that General\nMunicipal Elections shall be consolidated with the Statewide General Elections to be held\non the first Tuesday following the first Monday of every even-numbered year; hence, the\nnext General Municipal Election for the City of Alhambra, will be held on Tuesday,\nNovember 5, 2024. The City of Alhambra historically has consolidated its General\nMunicipal Elections with those held on the same date in the County of Los Angeles. Based\non economies of scale, such consolidation has resulted in considerable cost savings for\nthe City. Therefore, staff requests that the City Council adopt the ordinance calling the\nNovember 5, 2024 General Municipal Election as well as a resolution regarding\nconsolidation with the Statewide General Election to be held that same day in Los Angeles\nCounty.\nRecommended Action: City Council, by one motion, take the following actions:\n1. Declare introduced for its second reading and adopt the following ordinance entitled:\nOrdinance No. O2M24-4829: An Ordinance of the Alhambra City Council providing for a\nGeneral Municipal Election in said city to be held on November 5, 2024 and providing for the\nconsolidation of the General Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election, said\nelection being held for the election of the following city officials, to wit: Councilperson of the\nThird District, full term; and, Councilperson of the Fourth District, full term; and,\n2. Adopt Resolution No. R2M24-14 entitled: A Resolution of the Alhambra City Council\nrequesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles to order the consolidation\nof an Alhambra General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024 with the Statewide\nGeneral Election to be held in Los Angeles County the same day, to authorize the Board of\nSupervisors of the County of Los Angeles to canvass the returns of said General Municipal\nElection and to request that the Registrar of Voters of said County be permitted to render\nspecified services to the City of Alhambra relating to the conduct of said General Municipal\nElection pursuant to Elections Code Section 10403
