27. ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND\nURBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR THE JOSLYN SENIOR CENTER FACILITY\nIMPROVEMENT PROJECT – F2M24-18, M2M24-83\nIn March 2023, staff submitted an application for $500,000 in congressionally directed\ngrant funding for the Joslyn Senior Center Facility Improvement Project, to Senator Dianne\nFeinstein and Representative Judy Chu. The application was sponsored by\nRepresentative Chu to the House Appropriations Committee for funding and supported by\nSenator Feinstein to the Senate Appropriations Committee in the 2023-2024 Federal\nFiscal Year. On May 6, 2024, staff was notified by HUD’s Office of Community Planning\nand Development (CPD), Office of Economic Development – Congressional Grants\nDivision that the grant was funded.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept a grant in the amount of $500,000 for\nthe Joslyn Senior Center Facility Improvement Project from the U.S. Department of\nHousing and Urban Development (HUD) Fiscal Year 2024 Economic Development\nInitiative (EDI) - Community Project Funding (CPF) grant; appropriate revenue and\nexpenditure funds; authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents\nrelated to grant implementation; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to\nfinalize the Council’s action.
