5.I. Award Construction Contract to Environmental Construction, Inc. for\nPedestrian Improvements at Six Schools Project\nRecommended Action\nStaff recommends that the City Council:\n1. Adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301 and\nSection 15311 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines\nand Section 21080.25 of CEQA;\n2. Award Bid #SP2649 to Environmental Construction, Inc., for the construction\nof the Safe Routes to Schools: Pedestrian Improvements at Six Schools\nProject for the Public Works Department;\n3. Authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with\nCity of Santa Monica Generated: 5/10/2024 3:23 PM Page 8\nEnvironmental Construction, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $ 3,545,430\n(including a 10% contingency);\n4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to issue any necessary change orders\nto complete additional work within contract authority; and\n5. Authorize budget amendment as outlined in the Financial Impacts & Budget\nActions section of this report (requires 5 votes).
