D. Adoption of Resolution No. 2024- 21 Amending Sick Leave Benefits for Part -Time\nEmployees Effective January 1, 2024 Per California Law Senate Bill 616\nThe Governor signed Senate Bill (SB) 616 on October 4, 2023, changing the Healthy\nWorkplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014. This change increases the maximum days\nthat workers may carry over from one year to the next and increases the number of\npaid sick days to which they are entitled to use in a 12 -month period. Part- time\nemployees will now be able to use up to forty hours of sick leave within a calendar\nyear, while they still accrue one ( 1) hour for every thirty hours worked. Part- time\nemployees will also be able to accrue and carry over up to eighty hours of sick leave\nfrom one calendar year of employment to the next. This does not apply to employees\nwho are covered by a valid collective bargaining agreement ( CBA) or a benefit\nresolution that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements under AB 1522.\nSick leave benefits for full- time employees remain unchanged.\nRecommendation: That the City Council approve and adopt Resolution No. 2024- 21,\nentitled:\nA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE\nCITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SICK\nLEAVE BENEFITS FOR PART- TIME EMPLOYEES\nEFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2024 PER CALIFORNIA LAW\nSB 616
