6.E. RECOGNITION OF AUGUST 31ST AS OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY\n[J. ERICKSON, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO, J.\nDUCKWORTH]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider recognizing August 31, 2024,\nas Overdose Awareness Day to honor the lives lost to drug overdoses and\nraise awareness about the importance of harm reduction and overdose\nprevention.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Direct the City’s Facilities & Field Services\nDivision to light City Hall and the City’s lanterns over Santa Monica\nBoulevard in purple on August 31, 2024, in recognition of Overdose\nAwareness Day; and 2) Direct the Communications Department to utilize\nall appropriate communication tools to promote Overdose Awareness Day\nincluding, but not limited to, the City’s website, a press release, and social\nmedia tools.
