26. ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES BUREAU OF\nRECLAMATION UNDER THE WATERSMART SMALL-SCALE WATER EFFICIENCY\nGRANT PROGRAM – F2M24-18, M2M24-108\nOn January 8, 2024, City Council approved Resolution No. R2M24-1 enabling the\nsubmittal of a grant application to the United States Bureau of Reclamation’s\nWaterSMART Grant Program for small-scale water efficiency projects that seek to\nconserve and better manage water supplies. On May 23, 2024, staff was notified that the\nCity was selected to receive a grant of $100,000 under the WaterSMART Small-Scale\nWater Efficiency Grant Program. The project will replace approximately 458 water meters\nwith Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) equipment at various locations in the City and\npurchase an online customer portal software program. As required by the grant program,\nthe City will contribute $111,115 in matching funds towards the project, which shall be\ncovered by the Water Fund (Fund 401). The grant project advances the citywide, multi-\nyear water meter replacement program identified in the Capital Improvement Plan.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept a grant in amount of $100,000 from the\nUnited States Bureau of Reclamation under the WaterSMART Small-Scale Water\nEfficiency Grant Program; appropriate revenue and expenditure funds; authorize the City\n16\n6-24-24\nManager, or designee, to execute all documents related to grant implementation; and,\ndirect staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize the Council’s action.
