5.A. DEVELOPMENT OF A CITY POLICY REQUIRING SUSTAINABLE AND\nCLIMATE-FRIENDLY FOOD CHOICES FOR CITY-SPONSORED\nEVENTS [Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, H. MOLINA]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider a resolution mandating that all\nCity-sponsored events in which food/refreshments are provided be plant-\nbased foods by default and allow people to opt into food/refreshments that\ncontain animal products.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution No. 24-_______: “A\nRESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST\nHOLLYWOOD ESTABLISHING A POLICY TO REQUIRE SUSTAINABLE\nAND CLIMATE-FRIENDLY FOOD CHOICES FOR CITY-SPONSORED\nEVENTS;” and 2) Direct the Communications Department staff to educate\nthe public about the benefits of including plant-based products in their diet.
