21. SHOEMAKER AVENUE AND BROADWAY AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENT\nPROJECT – AWARD OF CONTRACT (PUBLIC WORKS)\nRECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council:\n1) Award a construction contract to Sequel Contractors, Inc., of Santa Fe Springs,\nCalifornia in the amount of $807,165 for the construction of the Shoemaker\nAvenue and Broadway Avenue Street Improvement Project and authorize the City\nManager to execute the agreement; and\n2) Appropriate $391,000 from Redevelopment Project Tax Allocation Bond funds to\nthe Shoemaker Avenue and Broadway Avenue Street Improvement Project\n(Account No. PW230504); and\n3) Authorize the Director of Public Works to execute Task Order No. 71 to Southstar\nEngineering, Inc., for On-Call Professional Engineering Services for Construction\nManagement and Inspection Services for $109,980; and\n4) Take such additional, related action that may be desirable.\nJuly 16, 2024: City Council Meeting Page 9 of 13
