29. CONTRACT AMENDMENT: ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE ALHAMBRA\nCOMMUNITY CENTER – F2M22-65, C2M23-66, M2M24-132\nOn July 24, 2023, the City Council authorized an agreement with KFA LLP to provide\nprofessional architecture services for the design and development of the Alhambra\nCommunity Center. At the March 25, 2024 City Council meeting, the scope and direction\nof the Alhambra Community Center was revised to include the adaptive reuse of the\nexisting Shorb Street medical clinic’s western wing and for the architect to develop\nconstruction documents for 8,000, 12,000 and 16,000 square foot new adjacent facilities.\nThe terms of KFA’s original contract are such that the fee for services may not exceed\n$1,464,625. A first amendment to the contract must be approved and executed to allow\nthe payment of an additional $145,000 for added scope and tasks not defined or directed\nwhen the initial contract was approved. Accordingly, this amendment requests an\nadditional $145,000 which results in a new not to exceed sum of $1,609,625.\nRecommended Action: City Council approve a contract amendment, subject to final\nlanguage approval by the City Manager and City Attorney, by and between the City of\nAlhambra and KFA LLP for professional architecture services associated with the redesign\nof the Alhambra Community Center in an amount not to exceed $145,000; and, direct staff\nto undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
