8. Addressing Accessibility and Inclusion at Los Angeles County Parks\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Hahn and Barger: Instruct the\nDirector of Parks and Recreation to partner with the Director of Aging and\nDisabilities and the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities, to develop\nuniversal design guidelines for the Department of Parks and Recreation’s\n(DPR’s) Project Design Guidelines to include accessible design\nrecommendations for future projects, including new parks and existing park\nrenovations; establish a temporary Parks Accessibility Task Force for the\nperiod of one year and hold meetings once every two months to work with DPR\nand the Department of Aging and Disabilities staff to develop guidelines and\nrecommendations, with the Task Force to be comprised of one appointed\nCommissioner from each Supervisorial District from the Los Angeles County\nCommission on Disabilities and two Commissioners from the Los Angeles\nCounty Parks Commission; partner with the Director of Aging and Disabilities,\ncreate a joint Management Appraisal and Performance Plan Goal to develop\nand adopt the Universal Design Guidelines for Parks; upon the completion of\nthe Universal Design Guidelines for Parks, DPR will present the Universal\nDesign Guidelines for Parks to the Park and Recreation Directors in the\nCounty; and partner with the Board to identify funding opportunities to establish\none gym in each Supervisorial District, with inclusive programming, providing\nadaptive equipment for “Inclusive Gym Time”.
