2. UPDATE ON SUSTAINABILITY PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT OF IMPLEMENTATION\nSTRATEGIES – F2M22-64\nThe City Council Sustainability Subcommittee consisting of Mayor Pérez and\nCouncilmember Maloney met with City staff and ESA Consultants to review outcomes or\nfeedback from existing conditions and Phase 1 community outreach efforts. The purpose\nof the data collection was to gain perspective of priority sustainability issues among\ncommunity members and receive input on the draft sustainability framework which efforts\nfocus on green space, food, mobility, energy, water, air quality, sustainability culture,\ngreen economy, and waste reduction. Community workshops, discussion groups, pop-up\nevents, Commission briefings, community questionnaire and social media were conducted\nas part of the early phase of work. Plan development will continue with additional outreach\nto the community, with emphasis on the development of strategies or action items for the\nCouncil and the community to consider. Tonight, the City Council will receive an update\non the Comprehensive Environmental Sustainability Plan, including a summary of\noutreach highlights year to date, and a review of intended talking points with the\ncommunity to stimulate strategy discussions to help the City achieve its targets.\nRecommended Action: City Council receive and file the informational report and\ndirect staff as deemed appropriate.
