N. SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM (STEP) GRANT APPROVAL\nThe Police Department has received a renewal grant from the Office of Traffic\nSafety (OTS) to participate in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)\nfor Federal Fiscal Year 2024-2025. The grant will reimburse the City for\npersonnel overtime costs incurred in participating in this campaign and for\npurchase of related equipment for training in the sum of $175,000. This report\nseeks Council’s approval of the Resolution which would authorize acceptance\nof the grant funding and amend the current budget approving the allocation\nof funds not to exceed the amount of $175,000 to be reimbursed by OTS based\non actual funds used during the Federal Fiscal Year grant (10-01-2024 through\n09-30-2025).\nCity Council Regular Meeting Agenda – September 17, 2024 9\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 24-50 approving\nand accepting the Office of Traffic Safety contract funding outlined in this Staff\nReport and increase the Revenue Budget Account No. 147-3229 by an\nestimated $175,000 to reflect receipt of the grant funds and increase\nappropriations in the Police Department Expenditure Budget by $175,000,\naccount 147-751-00-11-000 cost center, which will be used to account for the\ngrant expenditures. The Office of Traffic Safety grant fund revenue budget\nestimate will increase by $175,000 with a corresponding increase in the\nexpenditure budget of $175,000.
