23. NOTICE INVITING BIDS: PURCHASE OF ONE FULLY ELECTRIC DUMP TRUCK FOR\nTHE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT – F2M24-6A, N2M24-119\nStaff from the Public Works and Utilities Department use vehicles and equipment daily to\nmaintain the City’s infrastructure and provide critical services to the residents of Alhambra.\nThe dump truck to be replaced has been in service for over 23 years and is diesel-\npowered. Maintenance and repairs exceeded the vehicle's value, and the truck has\nreached the end of its expected useful life. The City of Alhambra is working to meet\nCalifornia's stringent regulations in place under the California Air Resources Board\n(CARB) to reduce emissions from diesel engines. Public agencies and cities must comply\nwith rules that require the reduction of harmful pollutants, which can be achieved through\ncleaner technologies or the retrofitting of existing diesel equipment. Specifications have\nbeen prepared, reviewed and approved for the purchase of a new electric dump truck. The\nNotice of Inviting Bids will be made available on the City’s website and at the office of the\nCity Clerk.\nRecommended Action: City Council authorize the circulation of a Notice Inviting\nBids for the purchase of an electric dump truck, with bids due no later than 10:30 a.m. on\nOctober 17, 2024; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s\naction.
