1. EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) – F2M5-41,\nN2M24-85, M2M24-168\nThis is the time and place set by Notice No. N2M24-85 for the City Council to hold a public\nhearing to receive community input concerning the use of funds received under the United\nStates Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance Edward Byrne Memorial\nJustice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The 2024 JAG funds will be used to outfit a\nsergeant vehicle with modernized police technology to be utilized in emergent situations.\nThe grant guidelines require the City conduct a public hearing to receive community input\nconcerning the use of funds, and approval of the application and pertinent requirements.\nOnce the City Council designates the Chief of Police as the JAG Grant Administrator, the\nChief of Police, or his designee, will be responsible for the distribution of funds, monitoring\nthe award and submitting the required reports.\nRecommended Action: After receiving public testimony, the Mayor should close the\npublic hearing and the Council should adopt Minute Order No. M2M24-168 as follows:\nRESOLVED by the Alhambra City Council that this Council hereby\nauthorizes the City Manager, or her designee, to apply for United States\nDepartment of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance -- Edward Byrne\nMemorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program funds in the amount of\n$11,284.00 and appropriates funds in the amount of $11,284.00 in FY\n2024-25 upon grant award; and,\nBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Alhambra City Council that this\nCouncil hereby ratifies the action of the City Manager in designating the\nChief of Police or Designee as the administrator for said Grant.
