9.a. CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 1276,\nAMENDING CHAPTER 2.04 OF TITLE 2 OF THE SOUTH EL MONTE\nMUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING COMPENSATION OF MAYOR AND\nCOUNCILMEMBERS\nCalifornia Government Code Section 36516(a)(4) provides that cities may\nincrease the salary of councilmembers five percent (5%) for each calendar\nyear from the operative date of the last adjustment. The proposed\namendment for the change in salary shall become effective when one or\nmore councilmembers commences a new term on or about December 10,\n2024.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends City Council waive first\nreading and introduce Ordinance No. 1276, regarding the compensation of\nCouncilmembers pursuant to California Government Code section 36516.\nGeneral Business Items 9.b. through 9.d. next page.\nGENERAL BUSINESS (CONTINUED)
