10.E. Award of Public Works Contract for Sierra Vista Playground It is recommended that the City Council consider: 1. Authorizing the City Manager to execute a public works contract, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with R.E. Schultz Construction, Inc. in the amount of $480,092, consisting of the $349,412 base bid and $130,680 Alternative No. 1, for Sierra Vista Playground, Specification No. 2026-008; 2. Authorizing the Public Works Director to approve change orders within the scope of the contract in an aggregate amount not to exceed $72,014 (15% of the total contract amount); and 3. Taking such additional, related action that may be desirable. CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act): The proposed project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to 14 California Code of Regulations § 15301 as a Class 1 categorical exemption (Existing Facilities) and 14 California Code of Regulations § 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction). The project consists of improvements to an existing public park, including replacement of playground improvements and existing concrete sidewalk, and does not involve an expansion of the existing use. None of the exceptions to the categorical exemptions under CEQA Guidelines section 15300.2 apply.
