(68) 25-0002-S130 CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION (JURADO - SOTO-MARTINEZ) relative to establishing the City's position on Assembly Bill (AB) 1679 (Gonzalez - Wicks) which would support entrepreneurship, reduce barriers for small businesses, and promote the revitalization of downtowns and neighborhood commercial corridors. Recommendation for Council action, pursuant to Resolution (Jurado - Soto-Martinez), SUBJECT TO THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MAYOR: RESOLVE to include in the City’s 2025-26 State Legislative Program SUPPORT of AB 1679 (Gonzalez - Wicks) which would require cities and counties to establish a Temporary Commercial Activation permit allowing qualifying small businesses to operate in vacant commercial spaces for up to 120 days, creating a pathway to permanent tenancy while reducing barriers to entrepreneurship and supporting the revitalization of commercial corridors. Fiscal Impact Statement: None submitted by the Chief Legislative Analyst. The City Administrative Officer has not completed a financial analysis of this report.
